The project Dream Theatre endeavors to share best practices, empower cultural and healthcare professionals, and shine a much-needed spotlight on mental health concerns across Europe.
DREAM THEATRE
Project Goals and Approach
To address the specific needs of psychiatric patients, the primary target group of the activities, the project will:
Enhance Social Interactions and Emotional Skills
Increase and improve social interactions for psychiatric patients by supporting them in acquiring skills to release and control emotions, develop imagination and concentration, and boost self-esteem and self-confidence. This will be achieved through their active participation in defining and implementing the local Upskill Labs on drama therapy.
Provide New Learning Opportunities
Offer new learning opportunities for psychiatric patients to acquire key skills for social inclusion. This will be facilitated by creating occasions for local and transnational cooperation among cultural and healthcare providers on drama therapy through networking activities within the Coordination Forum, the DREAM THEATRE interactive virtual cooperation tool, and the Social Inclusion LABS.
Combat
Stigmatization
Fight stigmatization of mental illnesses through theater performances staged by patients, employing an approach based on planned interactions between psychiatric patients and the audience. Additionally, the creation of a final documentary video will help raise awareness and further combat stigma.

Project
Training and Skill Development for Cultural and Healthcare Operators
Addressing the needs of psychiatric patients alone is not sufficient; it is crucial to develop the complementary and transversal competencies of cultural and healthcare operators:
- Training for Theatre Workers
Cultural operators will receive training to acquire specific skills that facilitate the social inclusion of psychiatric patients and improve drama therapy services. This training will be enhanced by cooperation with the healthcare sector. - Training for Healthcare Operators
Healthcare operators dealing with mental illnesses will undergo international training to equip them with skills in using drama therapy to support patients during treatment, integrating their competencies with theatre techniques.
Exchange of Best Practices
This group will work on defining the Model for Integrated Management of Dramatherapy services, ensuring a comprehensive and effective approach to drama therapy across different regions and sectors.
